Copywriter (Clearwater Basin Collaborative White Paper)
The National Wild and Scenic Rivers System was created to preserve rivers with outstanding natural, cultural and recreational values. The act safeguards these rivers while recognizing the potential for their appropriate use and development. It encourages river management that crosses political boundaries and promotes public participation.
During the Clearwater Basin Collaborative’s early years, I completed a 44-page white paper focusing on candidate Wild and Scenic Rivers in the Clearwater and Nez Perce national forests of northern Idaho. The report served as a foundation for partners participating in U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo’s Clearwater Basin Collaborative while they considered long-term policy solutions to natural resource issues on the forests. The result of considerable research, the footnoted report highlights 30 rivers and streams totaling 966 miles in length.
I compiled the report as Assistant Policy Director at Idaho Rivers United.
